Copyright

Torrents.net is an index of files available to download via BitTorrent. It's important that you understand that Torrents.net does NOT host, link to, provide or engage in the uploading of any of the files listed. Torrents.net is an automated website, using Google and other search engines to capture Torrents links. This is an automated process and Torrents.net has no control over what is indexed. Torrents.net, stores only information about said torrent files and not the actual files themselves. It is however our policy to respond to valid infringement notices and take appropriate actions under the copyright laws that we are in compliance with. Torrents.net is one of the few torrent sites that is in full compliance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA").

Content Removal Process

Process as of January 1st, 2010.
Removal

If your copyrighted material has been indexed by Torrents.net, you can request its removal by sending us a so-called "DMCA notice". However, these notices have to follow a few important steps, to allow us to process them. Please read the steps below carefully. We WILL reject your invalid/incomplete notice if you dont follow the steps below!

  • Infringing Content
Write an email and specify the page on Torrents.com where you believe copyrighted material has been infringed upon. For example: "The copyrighted work appears on http://www.torrents.net/torrent/1/abc.html". Make sure you point to an actual details page or torrent file. We won't process search result pages, unless that page itself has copyrighted material on it.
  • Contact Information
Provide us sufficient contact information so that we may contact you (real name and email address is required).
  • Evidence
Provide us with evidence that you own the copyright to said content. Emailing us from a company emailaddress related to the copyrighted material normally suffices.
  • Good Faith
Include the following statement: "I have a good faith belief that use of the copyrighted materials described above as allegedly infringing is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."
  • Declare Under Oath
Include the following statement: "I swear, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate and that I am the copyright owner or am authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed."
  • Email
Email all the information to .

Torrents.net will act on all removal requests in a timely matter, as long as you provide the information we have requested.

We will verify the information that you send us and get the content removed if we accept your DMCA notification. Please note that you will be liable for damages (including costs and attorneys' fees) if you materially misrepresent that a product or activity is infringing your copyrights. Indeed, in a recent case (please see http://www.onlinepolicy.org/action/legpolicy/opg_v_diebold/ for more information), a company that sent an infringement notification seeking removal of online materials that were protected by the fair use doctrine was ordered to pay such costs and attorneys fees. The company agreed to pay $125,000. Accordingly, if you are not sure whether material available online infringes your copyright, we suggest that you first contact an attorney.
